My top tip for newly engaged couples...

So you were asked a very special question and you said YES! Now it’s time to plan a wedding. Where do you even start!? Well many couples will look up vendors on national wedding registries like The Knot, Wedding Wire, Rainbow Network, Zola, ect. While others will begin looking up local wedding shows and venue open houses. Which brings me to my first tip!

My tip? Make an new email address just for your wedding!!

Contacting vendors:
Having a specific email address will keep all responses from wedding vendors in one place. This allows you to not only easily find everything, but it will also allow you to only access the responses when you’re ready.
It can get overwhelming and even distracting if you give out your work email or your personal email address. This will keep everything nice and neat and organized.

Wedding Shows, Bridal Fairs and Open Houses:
If you plan to attend one or several wedding fairs, you will be grateful for a seperate email address. These shows have the potential for you to meet and give out your info to a dozen and sometime upwards of 50 vendors. At the show, it’s fine. However, when those emails start coming in, it can be a bit overwhelming to navigate that many if you are also trying to pick out work or personal emails.

Online RSVP’s
If you setup a website for your wedding, some people can opt to have online RSVP’s. If this is something you are considering, a separate email address for this will also help keep everything in one place and keep those messages out of your personal emails. I’ve had couples set up two new email address too. One for vendors and one for RSVP’s.

Suggestions for your new wedding email address:
It’s pretty easy to setup a new email account with gmail, ymail and many other options. You can also set up your email address on your cell phone app so that you never miss a message. The best reason to set up a wedding only email address is that once your wedding is over and you've received everything from vendors after the wedding, you can delete this email account!

Setting up your email address:
Keep it simple. You have plenty of things pull from, a few suggestions are:

  • your last names or initials

  • your first and last names or initials

  • your wedding date

  • your wedding year

  • city you're getting married in

  • state you're getting married in

  • destination wedding location

  • the word wedding, wed, to be, to be wed… you get the idea

Here are some examples: Jacque and Mike Turner, married on Jan 17th 2022

  • jmweddingjan17@gmail.com

  • Jacqueandmiketwedding@gmail.com

  • jacquetomarrymike@gmail.com

  • Turnerwedding2022@gmail.com

  • OklahomaTurnerswed2022@gmail.com

  • FutureMrandMrsTurner@gmail.com

  • MikeJacqueweddingokc@gmail.com

You get the idea!
In summary, setting up a sweet wedding related email is a HUGE lifesaver and stress reliever for many of my wedding couples.
